Bill Hutchinson ’74 opened the original Pizaro’s Pizza Napoletana in 2011 as a small Memorial-area pizzeria with his wife Gloria and son Matt. What started as a personal hobby — Bill received his Pizzaiolo certification through the Verace Pizza Napoletana organization and trained under master chef Peppe Miele — became one of Houston’s most acclaimed pizzerias. The Memorial restaurant later relocated less than two miles to a larger space on the Katy Freeway, where it continues to serve wood-fired Neapolitan pies, Detroit-style squares, and New York–style slices.
